Palmer's Annual Parish Retreat at Camp Allen is scheduled for November 9-11 and we want YOU to join us for a special weekend of formation, fellowship and fun! This parish weekend is for people of all ages. New this year will be the opportunity to come up just for the day on Saturday. Situated on 1,100 acres in the serene piney woods of the Navasota area, Camp Allen provides a place to relax, refresh, and refocus. There will also be an opportunity to take part in activities like horseback riding and canoeing at an add'l fee.

We are especially excited that The Rev. Lisa Fischbeck, Vicar at The Advocate Church in Chapel Hill, NC will serve as the keynoter for the Saturday morning adult program and preacher for our Closing Eucharist on Sunday.

What began as a small mission to serve the growing northern end of Chapel Hill, NC became a lively center of creative liturgy and social collaboration, The Episcopal Church of the Advocate. Questions like “What does mission look like for the church of the 21st century?” and “How can churches partner with non-religious organizations to for holy transformation of their communities?” have percolated in a community that is now working with the town of Chapel Hill to provide affordable housing solutions on the church grounds for the region’s homeless. Join us at the parish retreat as we welcome The Reverend Lisa Fischbeck, Vicar of The Church of the Advocate, who, drawing from her theological reflection and practical experience, will guide us to consider how we are formed for mission and how Palmer might imagine similar partnerships in our surrounding community.
