The Axiom String Quartet kicks off their season, High Contrast, here at Palmer on Saturday, October 27 at 7:30 PM. This is the first of five concerts that the quartet will perform through May at both Palmer and the University of St. Thomas. It will be a high energy season that combines classical masterpieces with entirely contrasting musical genres to bring you an unforgettable concert experience. Visit axiomquartet.com for a schedule of events or to purchase tickets. Season tickets are available as well!

Axiom Quartet’s epic season opener will be truly a concert like no other! The centerpiece of our program will feature George Crumb’s iconic work Black Angels. Axiom will arm themselves with an array of electric and percussive instruments to perform this complex, wild and sometimes scary piece; timed just right for Halloween. Combined with Black Angels we will present the second movement from Franz Schubert’s String Quartet No.14, based on the same composer’s song Death and the Maiden.  In keeping with the idea of death, we are presenting Schubert’s spooky song about a fate filled evening with death, Erlkönig. What better genre of music to compliment black and death than Metal? Axiom will be shredding new versions of Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer’s legendary music.  If you think you’ve seen it all - you truly have not, until you see Axiom Quartet’s season opening concert!
