Faith Forum: Evangelism Advice from Molly Carnes

Posted on

Molly Carnes from St. Mary’s in Cypress visited Palmer recently to share with us her ministry as an Evangelist for the Episcopal Church.  She shared her experience of helping those wounded by their church experience to return to Christian community.  The good news is that the Episcopal Church can be that loving, merciful Christianity so many are longing to experience.  Molly encouraged us to ponder what difference being a Christian has made in our lives to inspire us to invite others to Palmer.  We also brainstormed ways to model "welcome" like sitting in the middle of the pew and avoiding insider language.   Lastly, Molly reminded us that our Baptismal Covenant is all about right relationship versus “right doctrine” and for those who have grown up with a faith based on rule-following, this opens the door for radical healing of the spirit.
