Baptism and Confirmation

Baptism

In Baptism we are incorporated into Christ’s body, infused with Christ’s character and empowered to be Christ's reconciling presence in the world. The appropriate dates for baptism, according to the Book of Common Prayer (p. 312), are the Easter Vigil, the Day of Pentecost, All Saints’ Day, the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord, and when a Bishop is present.  In addition, Palmer offers the Sunday after Easter for baptisms.  If you’re planning on having a child baptized, please arrange for the baptism before you invite out of town friends and relatives to attend.

Please contact Catherine Beebe to learn more about Baptism at Palmer.

Confirmation

Confirmation is the rite in which we express a mature commitment to Christ, and receive strength for the Holy Spirit through prayer and laying on of hands by the bishop. (BCP 860)

This Is Us! Getting to Know Anglican Christianity at Palmer (Newcomer Class)

Let’s face it, with all of the strange vocabulary, funny clothes, tradition-soaked ritual, and strangely-Protestant-but-also-Catholic beliefs, being an Episcopalian should come with a training manual. And if you’re new (or newish!) to Palmer, there may be some things about the history of this parish that explain why we worship and fellowship the way that we do. This is Us! is a great way to get to know the parish–its history, its community, opportunities to get involved here– and to deepen an appreciation of the Anglican way.  Chancery/A102
