VESTRY AND LAY DELEGATE NOMINATIONS

The following eight people have been nominated to serve on the Vestry: Elizabeth Maynard, Andrew Kraebel, Jackie Campbell, Rob Vines, Peter Yacoe, Camille Emig, Richard Avant, and Scott Sublett. The parish will elect four of these people to serve. The following four people have been nominated as Palmer’s representatives to Diocesan Council: Anne Stinson, Denise Zwicker, David Wallace, and George Thomas. The parish will elect two of these people to serve and the other two nominees automatically become alternate lay delegates. Annual Meeting will be held on Sunday, February 1, at 11 AM (following the 10 AM service) and voting will be the initial piece of business. In-person absentee voting will be held on Sunday, Jan. 25. Online voting will be January 25 – 28. There will be a Meet the Vestry Candidates forum on Sunday, January 18, following the 10 AM service.

The Vestry is the legal representative of the parish with regard to all matters pertaining to its corporate property. The number of Vestry members and the term of office varies from parish to parish. Palmer’s Vestry is made up of elected Vestry members from the congregation. Each year in January, five new Vestry members are elected for three-year terms at our Annual Parish Meeting.

The officers include two wardens, a treasurer, and a clerk. The Senior Warden leads the parish between rectors and is a support person for the Rector. The Junior Warden shares leadership responsibilities with the Senior Warden. Neither the Treasurer nor the Clerk of the Vestry are required to be Vestry members.

The basic responsibilities of the Vestry are to help define and articulate the mission of the congregation; to support the church's mission by word and deed, to select and call the Rector in cooperation with the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, to ensure effective organization and planning, and to manage our resources and finances.
