Why Keep Watch?

Posted by Danna Kurtin on

At Easter during the Gethsemane Vigil there is an opportunity to sign-up to keep “watch” for one hour as Jesus’ disciples were asked to do while Jesus prayed in the garden. This has become a very important practice as part of my Easter discipline because I feel this is something I can do to demonstrate my solidarity with the disciples. That hour for me is such a sacred time to pray and reflect in the quiet of the night/early morning. It is such a powerful and moving experience.

Jesus died on the cross for our sins so we can have everlasting life, keeping watch for one hour is the least I can do….. Make this a part of your Easter discipline this year.
