Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry is a Christ-centered, confidential, one-on-one active listening ministry serving adult individuals who are experiencing a crisis, such as the loss of a loved one, a job, or marriage. Additional information can be found HERE.

At Palmer, individual members interested in becoming a Stephen Minister are given the opportunity to apply and interview with one of the SM leaders. Training begins at the end of August and continues through early December. There is no application or training fee. Materials are provided. A two-year commitment, beginning with 50 hours of training, provided by the parish's Stephen Ministry leaders is required before a Stephen Minister can be assigned a care receiver. The caregiving relationship may last a few weeks, months, or longer. Stephen Ministers meet twice a month, year-round, to provide support for each other through small group supervision and continuing education.
