The Christian Meditation Group meets at 5:30 PM each Monday and 1:00 PM each Wednesday on Zoom (pre-pandemic, in St. Bede’s Chapel). All are welcome to attend the group, and no advance sign-up is required. The format for each meeting is a reading, followed by 25 minutes of silence and a brief concluding reading. Participants are free to leave after the meditation, or to remain to comment on the readings or other topics of interest.
Christian Meditation is a form of silent, contemplative prayer that originated with the early desert fathers of the fourth century. A Benedictine monk, John Main, rediscovered this ancient prayer tradition of silence and listening. Through the World Community for Christian Meditation (WCCM), it is offered now to contemporary men and women, and practiced worldwide by Christians of many denominations.
