The Gifts of God: The Speck of the Divine

Posted by John and Kathy Fields on

"The grander purpose of life is not to create wealth, to pursue pleasure, or to get our names in the history books, but rather to find the tiny speck of the Divine in our heart."  Eknath Easwaran

For the Fields family, Palmer has been a beautiful sanctuary where we have come to worship God with our fellow Palmers. It's been a place where we can serve God as well. Serving at the Way Station, working with the Altar and Hospitality Guilds, and organizing the golf tournament are a few activities we have enjoyed. Palmer has also provided an environment to grow our faith and guide each of us on our spiritual journey. Bible studies, Disciples of Christ in Community, and men's and family retreats are just a few examples.

Palmer has been a place of great celebration for us. Father Sam Todd renewed our marriage vows and both John William and Susan were baptized here. It is where we have come to be consoled in our sorrow, and to console fellow Palmers in theirs.

What has Palmer meant to our family?

It's that extraordinary place where each of us has discovered that tiny spark of the Divine in our hearts. And there is no more valuable treasure than that.
